75th Anniversary Of The Raising Of 16th Field Regiment, RNZA

Fellow Gunners,

The CO of 16th Field Regiment, LTCOL Brent Morris, has allocated 40 tickets to the RNZA Association for the commemoration to mark the raising of the Regiment in 1950. Details are as follows.

Date:

4 December 2025.

Timings:

1045h – 1115h Guests enter Main Gate of the Camp

1200h Salute from one gun

1205h Barbeque

Afternoon Tour of Regimental lines

1800h Cocktail party and dinner

2230h Final departure of guests.

Location:

Linton Military Camp, Palmerston North

Dress:

Dinner: Mess Kit or equivalent; jacket and tie. Medals may be worn.

Acceptance date:

Acceptance to be emailed to RNZA Association at the email address given below by midnight on 22 August 2025.

Charge:

$25 inclusive of lunch and dinner.

Historical Background

On December 4th 2025 16th Field Regiment will celebrate the formation of the Regiment as well as mark the occasion when the Regiment fired its first rounds in anger. As every kiwi Gunner knows, the birth of the Regiment in 1950 was in response to the Korean conflict, and thus it forms an important part of our history.

We proudly wear the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit citation that was earned by our veterans for their meritorious service during the emergency. We fired over 750,000 rounds in Korea, the most of any Regiment in the conflict. Over 4,720 Officers and Soldiers from NZ served in Korea, of which by far the largest component came from 16th Field.

Donations

As part of this event the Regiment is fundraising for all veterans and will donate all proceeds to the Royal New Zealand Returned Services Association. The final amount will be presented to a representative of the RSA on the evening of December 4th.

Rum and Gin

Furthermore, if you are interested in a bottle of limited edition 75th anniversary Regimental Rum or Gin from the award winning National Distillery Company (nationaldistillery.nz) please email 2Lt Dellabarca at [email protected] for details.

There are only 100 bottles of each and they are individually numbered. The cost is $75 per bottle (700ml).
