RNZAA 91st REUNION/AGM EVENTS – RNZAA Tour of Historic Fort Taiaroa.
Did you know a secret fort lies beneath the world-famous Royal Albatross colony? Join an RNZAA tour of Historic Fort Taiaroa with your old friends and comrades-in-arms by boarding the bus from Kensington Army Hall at 12:30PM on Saturday, 18 October 2025, to the Royal Albatross Colony Visitor Centre in Taiaroa Heads.
Explore underground tunnels, learn about its fascinating military history, and view the world’s only restored 1886 Armstrong Disappearing Gun, which protected Dunedin from harm until 1945. It is envisaged that the underground stables, which have never been seen before and are currently closed to the public, will only be accessible to RNZAA members. Protective footwear and warm clothing are necessary for the tour. Members also have the opportunity to observe the Royal Albatross Centre’s colonies above ground.
A light lunch will be provided. Toroa Cafe (cash/EFT-POS) in the Royal Albatross Colony Visitor Centre offers snacks, souvenirs, and interactive displays at your own expense. The bus is expected to return to Dunedin between 4:30PM and 5:00 PM.
