With sadness I have to report that B475480 Maj (Ret’d) Hugh Vercoe ONZM, QSM, ED passed away last night, 21st Oct.

Hugh was BC of 4(G) Mdm Bty from 1976-1982, and Mayor of the Matamata-Piako District Council from 1998-2013, .
Hugh had been unwell for some time but his usual incredible determination made sure he was there at the recent opening of his wonderful new Waikato Artillery Museum on his farm at Tauhei, which was a wonderful day for Hugh, his family, and all those who were there with him for the opening.
