Commemorate the 50th anniversary of deployment of 1RAR Group to Vietnam at Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance 18 Aug

Dear Sir,

I am the President of the Victorian Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia.

On 18 August-our Vietnam Veterans Day here-my branch will be conducting a special commemorative service at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the deployment of the 1RAR Group to Vietnam which was attached to the US 173rd Airborne Brigade.

An important part of that deployment was the 161 Fd Bty RNZA, and I wanted to make sure that your folk knew that we are remembering and commemorating their service in Vietnam with 1RAR Group. I would be delighted to hear from any of the original members of that Bty who might be in Australia, as I would like to invite them to attend our commemorations as our special guest.  And should that be possible, it would also be wonderful if we could display a RNZAA banner at the head of our march.  Please make contact through my email  address below.

Warm regards,

Bob Elworthy AM MAJ (Retd)
