Operation “Godley Head”: Recce Report

A small group from the organising committee, and a member of the Godley Head Trust, meet at Godley Head on Saturday 27 June, to conduct a detailed recce for the visit, which is part of the Artillery Association Reunion/AGM over the period 13-15 November 15.

 

Outline of planned visit:

  • Walk or bus to Godley Head.
  • Spend about 2 hours at Godley Head, which will include:
    • A hands on play with Artillery (L5 & M101A1Howitzer) and other military equipment.
    • A short historic brief to overview Christchurch coastal defences and focus on the Godley Head position.
    • A Battery Position site visit.
  • All bus back to the RSA
