Military Service
Enlisted as an RF Cadet 10 January 1962 (Gentry Class), graduated to 163 Bty Waiouru 1963, posted to 161 Bty Papakura in 1964, served in Kenning’s Battery in Bien Hou, when the Battery moved to Nui Dat I was put into the OP Party with B Coy 6RAR (Maj Ford) the FO being Pat Murphy, returned to Papakura December 1966. Returned to Vietnam as the Bty Survey Sergeant in Feb 1969 under command of Lt Col Albie Morrison with Majors Geoff Hitching, John Horford, and Ray Andrews my Bty Commanders during this tour. Returned to the School of Artillery as an AIG until 1974 when I changed trade and became the Chief Clerk at 4 (G) Medium Bty for 2years before being transferred to 16 Fd Regt as the Chief Clerk. Posted to the RNZA Directorate in 1982 as the WO RNZA before being posted to the B vehicle project and commissioned in 1984. Worked in Stout St and Trentham before retiring in 1992 as Captain QM.

Work

Worked for Porirua City Council as the Administration Manager and Archivist until I retired August 2011. Appointed Justice of the Peace 8 October 2008.  Now Maintain my house and section, are the EVSA Affiliate for Wgtn Region and run the RSA Support Services group for Wellington, member of the Management Committee for New Zealand Knowledge Management, Founder and President for Porirua Petanque. Have been married to Lyn for 48 years now, we have had three children 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 deceased and have 5 grandchildren
