Greg Thwaite has called in a few favours and used a few contacts to achieve something of a coup (not seriously!). Prince Charles and Camilla will be attending our remembrance service on Sunday morning at the Auckland Museum and Greg is trying to establish the likelihood of a group photo of RNZA Assn members with HRH after the service.
SMITH, Ronald Jack (RJ). RNZA.WO2 Reg No. 462698. Aged 77. Passed peacefully at home on 23 October 2012 surrounded by his family, after a bravely fought battle. As Ron wished, a private family service has been held.

Veterans’ Affairs New Zealand is seeking Expressions of Interest from New Zealand Second World War veterans who served in the Pacific and who may wish to attend the 70th anniversary commemorations in April 2013.
George McElroy passed on peacefully early Monday morning, 15 October 2012.

I would like to thank your national executive committee and president Don McIver. Don has been a tireless advocate for veterans for the last few years. As Prime Minister I have the privilege of meeting many veterans and hearing your remarkable stories. George is now in Totara Hospice, where he is not expected to live long. If anyone who could visit George, that would be appreciated.
The team in Christchurch has planned a St Barbara's Day Picnic & BBQ for Sunday 2 December 12. The objective is to get as many gunners, families and associates together as possible.
