Earlier this week, Gunner Derek Rixon, DCM was buried, and today there was a commemoration of his life at Hastings RSA. The Regiment was represented by the CO, Lt Col Ben Bagley, who read the Colonel Commandant’s note on behalf of the RNZA – Below:

Peacefully passed away on December 31 2015. A private family cremation will be held tomorrow (Tues 5 January) and a celebration of Derek's life will be held at the Hastings RSA, King St, on Thursday 7 January at 2.oopm - all welcome.
Edward Alan (Alan) ELLIOTT,821735 GNR CMT, On December 20, 2015, passed away peacefully, aged 80. In accordance with Alan's wishes, a private family service has been held.

Hi guys. I'm the son of an Australian 3RAR 67-68 Vietnam Veteran who received direct fire support from the 161 battery for almost the entire tour. Your shells got him out of deep sh*t on more than one occasion so my hat is off to you one and all.

Having just read the latest RNZAA Newsletter, can I congratulate the Association on another successful year. It seems that fun was had by all at the dinner in Christchurch and we look forward to more of the same with the RNZAA in 2016.
At the funeral today for the 2nd SMA of our Army, WO1 Bob Blankley, MBE, RNZA. Papakura RSA hosted us very well and full credit to 16 Fd Regt for paying military honours.

His funeral will be at 1000 hours, on Friday 11th December, at the Papakura RSA.
A small group of Wellington Gunners gathered at the BackBencher on Friday afternoon to celebrate our patron Saint's day, and to recall people and events from the past.
The new Christchurch Memorial RSA was the meeting place for local Christchurch Gunners on St Barbara’s Day. In traditional fashion, stories (all with an element of truth) were told, drinks and food enjoyed.

Hi, My father served in Vietnam (I believe late 69) as a Cpl in the NZ Sigs with 161 Bty. His name was Alan (Buck) Peters (service No. 79566). He has been diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and I am hoping to find any information and photos any of your members may be able to share with us.
